Studio Etiquette

What Sets Us Apart

Studio Etiquette
A few ways we can care for this space, our practice, and one another.

Awen is a shared space. These simple considerations help us create an environment where everyone can settle in, breathe deeply, and feel at home.

Arrive with intention
Give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive, check in, and settle onto your mat. When possible, please arrive a few minutes before class begins so we can start together.

Give yourself space
Set up your mat with awareness of those around you, leaving enough room for everyone to move comfortably. If the room is full, we may need to make a little room for one another.

Practice presence
Please silence phones and other devices before entering the practice space. Let this be an opportunity to step away from the noise of the outside world and be here, for yourself and your community.

Honor your practice
Yoga is not a performance or a competition. Listen to your body, take rest when you need it, and remember that your practice may look different from someone else's. You are always welcome to modify, pause, or choose a different variation.

Respect the quiet
We invite you to keep conversation low in the practice space, particularly before and after class. There is plenty of time to connect—we simply ask that we preserve a little quiet for those who are arriving or staying in stillness.

Care for the shared space
Please treat the studio and its belongings with care. Return props and other equipment to their proper places after practice, and leave your space as you found it—or a little better.

Come as you are
There is no particular way you need to look, move, or be to belong here. Wear what allows you to move comfortably, bring what you need, and let your practice meet you where you are.

Respect one another
Awen is a space for many different bodies, backgrounds, experiences, and ways of moving through the world. We ask that you extend kindness, patience, and respect to everyone who enters our doors.

Give yourself permission to leave
If you need to step out of class for any reason, please do. Your body and your needs come first. If possible, exit quietly and return when you are ready.
Most importantly…
There is no perfect way to practice yoga.
Come curious.
Come gently.
Come exactly as you are.
We are glad you are here.
